40 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 12.12.2017 MTP English Accelerated Readers The Leaderboards at the end of the first term are: Year group with most Millionaires/Housepoints: Year 5 – with over 16 million words read Tutor Group with most Millionaires: N1 – 3 boys Tutor Group with most words read: N3 - with 6 million + House with most words read: Newton, which is not surprising as 7 of the 12 millionaires are in Newton – with 21 million + The term has been packed with amazing achievements: The boys have read over 66 million words between them accumulated by reading over 2,200 books. This time last year it was 39 million words over 1001 books. The average reading duration is 41 minutes per night (compared to 29 minutes last year), however, some boys do read a lot more than the minimum 30 minutes as required for homework. Please may we remind you that reading is now part of the homework timetable and must be signed off every day in the prep diary. Well done to the vast majority of boys who are now getting into the reading habit. Hope Santa includes at least one good read for you this Christmas.
