44 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 28.03.2018 MTP Music Music Recitals This term has seen three excellent recitals from across different sections of the school: first of all, Years 3 and 4, followed by Years 5-8, and finally, boys from the Pre-Prep Department. Some boys in Years 1 and 2 even performed twice, after their concert was repeated after the school was closed due to snow! All performed really well, and these concerts are an excellent showcase for the boys’ talents. Special mention, however, must go to the Pre-Prep boys, who performed with great confidence, and to a large audience of pupils and parents. Thank you to Mrs Jones and Mr Edwards for accompanying the performers. Save the date Save the date: on 11th November 2018, at 2.30 p.m., the Merchant Taylors’ Company is hosting a joint Schools’ Remembrance Concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the highlight of which will be a performance of Mozart’s Requiem. More details of how to book to watch our boys play in this magnificent venue will follow early next term. Merchant Taylors’Young Musician of the Year 2018 The finals for this important annual event will take place this year on Tuesday 15th May in the Lalani New Barn Theatre. Boys in Years 3 to 8, who have taken Grade 2 or above, are welcome to audition. Auditions will be performed in front Music Staff from MTP and MTS. Auditions will likely take place on Wednesday 25th April – this will be confirmed in an email to all parents of Year 3 to 8 boys, which will be sent out next week along with further details. The categories will be: voice, piano, strings (including guitar), woodwind, brass, percussion (including drum kit). In the meantime, if you have any queries, please email office@mtpn.org.uk
