7 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 28.03.2018 This is been another really great term and I am so impressed with how hard everyone has worked and how much progress all of the boys have made. What gives me particular pleasure is to see how excited the boys are about their learning at school. The photographs that follow show a selection of the highlights of this term; including Chinese New Year in Nursery, outdoor Maths in Reception, alien pizza and rocket art in Year 1, Space crafts and a balloon rocket experiment in Year 2. Year 1 and 2 also enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Polka Theatre this term and the picture shows the boys in the Swifts on their return from their exciting day out. Parents of boys in Year 1, I know, were impressed with the confident way the boys showcased their learning through their power point presentations in the theatre this week and the whole topic about Space ended with a bang with a rocket making and launching day. A fitting finale! All the boys all enjoyed celebrating Book Week, just after Half Term. We were delighted to have a return visit from Andy and the Theatre of Widdershins as well as Ollie Heath who entertained the boys at the Manor with drumming workshops based on the stories of The Cat in the Hat and Going on a Bear Hunt. Year 1 and 2 took part in drama workshops based on a story about an Alien and the photographs show how much they all enjoyed all the activities of Book Week. I am grateful to those parents who came to school to read stories to the boys and the photographs show a selection of story times at the Manor. We rounded off Book Week with a wonderful dressing- up day and it was such fun to see all of the boys in their book character outfits. Please look at the Book Week pages to see all the wonderful photographs. Finally, some of you may have heard the lovely news that Mrs. Brewis had a baby boy a few weeks ago. Samuel Christopher Brewis was born on 8th February weighing 7.5 pounds. We would also like to send congratulations to Miss Taylor who will be getting married during the Easter holidays and will return to school as Mrs Evans. Have a wonderful break over Easter and see you all on Monday 16th April. News from the Pre-Prep Nursery Chinese NewYear
