30 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 25.05.2018 MTP Sport Eoin Morgan and First XI On 25th April we were fortunate enough to be joined by England Cricket Captain Eoin Morgan. Eoin spent the afternoon with our Y7/8 pupils in their Games lesson taking part in Q & A sessions with each group, signing autographs and even spent some time umpiring practice matches between groups. Eoin made a huge impression on all of the pupils and staff and we hope to welcome him back again in the future. This term’s Cricket is now well under way with matches at all age groups from Year 3-8. The 1st XI won the first round of the U13 IAPS Cricket Tournament vs Aldwickbury with Rahul Patel (bowling a triple wicket maiden over) and Krish Patel (91 not out off 79 balls plus 3 catches) the standout performers. U11AB both recorded victories in their first fixtures of the season (Jack Groves 50 not out), U10’s have played fixtures against Belmont and Berkhamsted, U9’s against Radlett Prep and St Columba’s, and the U8’s have now played their first ever MTP Cricket fixtures against St Columba’s. Congratulations to all boys involved so far, the summer term is always one of the busiest for fixtures, good luck to all boys participating in matches over the next few weeks.
