35 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 25.05.2018 Parents’Association Update Where has this half term gone? We really have had a busy six weeks! Comedy Night: We have received lots of positive feedback from those who attended our Comedy Night in April which proved to be an evening full of laughter and great entertainment! A special thank you to Mr Hibbert who was our resident DJ for the evening and took all the jokes about teaching science in his stride! Mufti Day: We are incredibly fortunate to have a talented group of bakers within the committee who have baked 384 cupcakes for our boys to enjoy! The proceeds raised from this mufti day will go to CHIVA, one of the seven Charities personally chosen by Prince Harry and Ms Markle. The charity aims to enhance the wellbeing of children and young people with HIV and to create a more hopeful and optimistic future for them, ensuring they achieve their greatest potential. Thank you, as always, for supporting the mufti day. Swab Test Drop In: It was wonderful to have so many of you take advantage of the “Swab test drop in” this week. By registering as a stem cell donor you can potentially oˆer life-saving treatment to someone in urgent need. The swab-test initiative was instigated by the tragic plight of little 5 year old Kaiya (a reception pupil at St Helens) who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia and is in urgent need of a stem cell transplant. The charity DKMS, who we worked alongside, informed us that there is a shortage of donors, especially from the Asian community. With this in mind, it is so incredibly important that people from all ethnic backgrounds are registered on the database to give someone in need of a stem cell transplant a fighting chance. A reminder that our next uniform sale will be at the years 3 & 4 sports day on Friday 22nd June. We would be grateful for all your donations of any unwanted MTP uniform. Please either pass this on to one of the committee or drop it into the school o®ce. Hope you enjoy looking at the highlights of the some of the PA events this half term. Wishing you all a wonderful and restful break. Best wishes Anila Shyam MTP Parents’Association www.rmsforgirls.org.uk www.twitter.com/RMSforGirls www.facebook.com/RMSforGirls
