4 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 06.07.2018 It is hard to believe that we are once more at the end of an academic year. The time has literally flown by and I can honestly say that I am extremely proud of all of the boys’ achievements this year. As always, the boys’ successes are down to their own hard work with a massive input from their teachers and parents. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the teachers and parents for their unending support of the work of the school. The boys have finished this term in style with exciting topic themed days for everyone in Pre-Prep. The photographs show the boys enjoying Pirate Day at the Manor and Year 1 and Year 2 dressed up for Knights Day. Year 1 and Year 2 also used their research skills to find out more about knights before interviewing potential knights to find the best one to rescue a princess. They also learnt how to be a knight with Sir-Teach-a-lot. In June all the boys took part in a Toddle or Fun Run to raise money for the Jinja Educational Trust. We have raised a truly magnificent £2,793 so far to provide resources to develop literacy and numeracy skills and to enable us to start building a small outdoor classroom so that the children in our schools can develop their creative skills. Thank you so much for your generosity! I would also like to thank everyone who so kindly donated shoes, toothbrushes and toothpaste for the children in the JET schools and orphanages. I was especially delighted by the empathy shown by the boys who took the trouble to clean their shoes themselves before handing them in! Through the wonderful generosity of you all we will have enough for every child to receive a toothbrush and toothpaste. This week we have also had the Y2 Presentation of Certificates, a time when we say well done, and sadly farewell, to our Year 2 pupils as they get ready to move to Year 3. They are more than ready for the new challenges that lie ahead but we will miss them in Pre-Prep! Sadly, there are always goodbyes to say at this time of year and I would like to say farewell and thank you to Mrs Brewis, Mrs Evans and Miss Hayes who are leaving after working so hard for us in Pre-Prep. We will all really miss you! Finally, on behalf of all of the staff, thank you sincerely to parents for their end of year gifts and very kind words about our work. We wish you all a very happy summer! News from the Pre-Prep Toothbrushes Nursery, Year 1 and Year 2 Reception
