20 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 27.09.2018 MTP JET News from Jinja Many of you will already know that Dr McNerney, Mr. Westacott, Mr Waddington and I returned to Uganda in the summer holiday to support the work of the Jinja Educational Trust. We had a very successful trip during which we spent time in schools, supporting teachers with the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy. We were able to provide training and teach lessons so that we could model the use of teaching techniques and resources. We also ran a Resource Making Day which enabled the teachers to make their own resources to use in their daily teaching. The overwhelming success of this day highlighted the commitment of the teachers to improving their practice and therefore the quality of education received by the children. We are so grateful to you all for supporting the Pre-Prep Fun Run and Toddle as some of the money raised was used to support this work. I will soon have news of the other project that your donations supported. Many of you were also kind enough to donate school shoes and toothbrushes for the children in the schools and which we took with us on our trip. I do hope that these photographs will give you a flavour of how much they were appreciated and the delight with which they were received. Thank you all so much for your support.
