1 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 15.03.2019 Welcome from the Head MTP ThisMonth This newsletter contains so much exciting information about events going on in school and achievements of various groups of boys. I would like to highlight a few of them. Firstly, our congratulations go to boys in Y6 who have been awarded academic scholarships to MTS: Benjamin Moore-Taylor (Terry Scholarship), Ishan Olsen (Lee Scholarship), Kush Patel (Wolsey Scholarship), Amil Chandaria (Exhibition), Saamir Deen (Exhibition), Manvir Singh Obhrai (Exhibition), Jayden Thakrar (Exhibition) and Sam Williams (Exhibition). I am also delighted to announce that there are some boys in Y8 who have been awarded scholarships to their secondary schools: Krish Patel and Olvier Browne (Sports scholarships to MTS), Tyler-Xaine Horsfall (Sports scholarship to Mill Hill) and Arjun Obhrai (Art scholarship to MTS). In addition, places at Aldenham School have been confirmed for Alex Andelkovic and Sanjiv Vadera in Y8, both of whom have shown great perseverance in working on 13+. We are now awaiting news from Harrow for three of our Yr 8’s so that we will have a complete picture of destination schools for that year group. There have been lots of other achievements recently. We congratulate our Science Team on reaching the national final of the Science Quiz; the boys did not win but it was brilliant to have made the final, which took place at the Natural History Museum in Oxford. Our Y4 Maths Team won a competition at Gayhurst School and came first out of 46 schools. Our Chess Team have qualified for the national semi-finals and we wish them the best of luck in this event. Twenty four of our boys in Y6-8 were invited to Oxford for the computational thinking challenge as they had scored in the top 10% of competitors nationally; we are eagerly awaiting news of this challenge. Finally, thank you to the parents who attended the recent Education Matters evening about enrichment. We had a really useful discussion and a summary will be emailed to all parents soon.
