32 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 05.04.2019 MTP Sport As we approach the end of the Spring term our Y8 students have played their final Football and Hockey matches for MTP. A successful season for both teams saw them finish with an impressive four wins and a draw against Davenies School on the Football field, and victories for our U13A and B Hockey sides away at John Lyon. We would like to congratulate all boys in Y8 for their contribution to the sports department throughout their time at MTP, and wish them all good luck in their final term of Cricket after the Easter break. The end of the spring Football term traditionally involves a number of Football tournaments across the age groups. On Saturday 23rd March we hosted our annual U10 Larkin Shield competition involving 16 schools, once again hosted at MTS. Our U10A side reached the Shield competition quarter final, with our U9A side, playing up a year, reaching the plate competition semi-final. Congratulations to all boys that took part, and we look forward to next year’s competition. This month also saw our U8A Football team enter the Gayhurst School tournament, reaching the final of the plate competition, and our U9’s enter the Haberdashers’ Competition winning 5 out of 7 friendly matches. Our annual House Football competitions have taken place this week, with a focus on team spirit and togetherness culminating with an excellent week of Football. It is a highlight of each term to see all boys playing with and against each other in good spirits, well done to all boys on what has been a particularly impressive competition this time around.
