36 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 05.04.2019 U11AScrummers Festival Success A fantastic mornings Rugby, saw the MTP U11 A topping their mini-pool, beating St John’s B team 6-1 and Elmshurst 5-1. This put the boys into a further mini - league against the two other Pool winners, where their fine form continued, beating the Falcon 4-2 and drawing in a nail biting finale (against last year’s winning team) York House 4-4. However, our better try scoring record meant we topped this table too, and therefore ‘won’ overall (although the RFU, in their infinite wisdom, don’t officially recognise such achievements at U11!) This was a fantastic achievement, all the more impressive as the boys had spent most of the week focusing on their school production, and had only had a couple of low key practice sessions all term. A special mention needs to go to Tobi, who scored 13 tries and was quite literally untouchable all morning!! MTP Sport
