41 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 21.06.2019 MTP Sport The sun was shining for our annual Pre-Prep Sports Day where once again the boys were challenged to climb the wall; visit the number forest and face the egg and spoon steeplechase! The boys were supported throughout by a sea of parents, Y8 ambassadors and our Learning Friends were involved in every race just to give the boys that little extra encouragement! With the Summer Term now in full swing, the Summer weather has done its best to dampen spirits! Sadly, one of the highlights of the term - Senior School Sports day - fell victim to the rain, but there has been plenty of action elsewhere. The 1st XI batted superbly well in their Jet cup match against St. Pauls, with captain Krish Patel anchoring a big score with a fine century (112). Sadly, it was not enough, and for the second year in a row we lost to the same opposition. However the 1st XI have also recorded some fine wins – not least against local rivals St John’s. The U11’s, are having a fine season, and won their County Cup Semi Final convincingly against Radlett Prep, and now march onwards to the Regional finals. This week the U11 team travelled to Chigwell School for the Regional final. They played superbly and won to become East of England Champions. Congratulations. The U10 A team, likewise remain unbeaten, and are playing some superb cricket, and after fixtures against the likes of Belmont, UCS and Highgate, it’s pleasing to note that the vast majority of our cricket teams are having ‘winning seasons’.In the House Tennis competition Livingstone dominated, winning both The Year 7/8 and the Y5/6 competitions.
