5 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 21.06.2019 MTP News fromPre-Prep Life in Pre-Prep has been busy over the last month as we have all continued to learn about nature and the great outdoors. All the boys have been out and about in the school grounds seeing at first hand the variety of animal and plant life that we are lucky enough to have there. At the Manor the boys have enjoyed watching their ducklings grow and have shown great empathy in handling them. The Robins and Wrens were invited to a nature exploring afternoon by the Merchant Taylors’ Community Service Team. They had great fun in the woodland and campfire area near the lake with the older boys and hope to go again soon. Just before half term Years 1 and 2 visited Woolley Firs Environmental Centre to learn more about animals and their habitats and the boys at the Manor had an exciting day at Bekonscot Model Village. The photographs show the fun they all had during their days out. Last half term came to an end with two fantastic sports events for boys in Pre-Prep, led by Mr Todd and his team. The photographs that follow give you a flavour of the day and show how eager the boys were to take a risk and persevere to complete the challenges in front of them! We were so proud of all they achieved and I would like to thank all of you for coming along to support your children. Next Monday we also have a moving up session for the boys in Pre-Prep, Year 3 and Year 4 and on Tuesday we welcome the boys who will be joining Nursery in September for a visit. A reminder for Reception parents: on Monday 24th June at 8.45am, there is an information meeting about the boy’s move from the Manor to Merchant Taylors’ Prep. I look forward to seeing you then. Lastly, as many of you will already know Dr. McNerney, Mrs. Doherty, Mr. Westacott and I are visiting Uganda in the summer holiday to support the work of the Jinja Educational Trust. We have room in our luggage for more school shoes for the children so please continue to bring in any shoes your children have outgrown that you would like to donate to this fantastic cause.
