10 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 05.07.2019 MTP Parents’Association Hi everyone, Yet again, we hear ourselves saying ‘this year has flown by!’ and no doubt we are all ready for the summer holidays! We have had a wonderful year of PA activities, raised almost £2,500 for charitable causes along the way and received some great feedback regarding the events! In summary we kicked off the year with our Autumn term mufti day by raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. After which were delighted to contribute to the inaugural drinks reception at the exquisite Merchants Taylors’ Hall in the City of London. It was lovely to see so many of you that evening. Our highlight of the year is always the annual Fireworks Extravaganza. We closed the term by collaborating with the Ladies’ Association at MTS to host the biennial Christmas Market. Our giant Scalextric track proved to be a hit with boys and dads alike. We would like to especially thank all the parents who kindly sponsored the event and helped us to donate £925 to Tom’s Trust, Watford Workshop and The Children’s Society. In 2019, we dedicated out Spring mufti day to Kaiya Patel. Her untimely death deeply saddened the our MTP community and we all came together to support the Anthony Nolan Trust. Following the February half term holiday, the PA supported Mrs Smith with this year’s literary festival and it was wonderful to see boys throughout the school so enthusiastic about the joys and wonder of books. Our Summer term Mufti day and Parents’ Coffee Morning was in aid of Cancer Research. We are so pleased to announce we raised £1,150 for the charity. Finally, it is time to say farewell from the both of us. We have thoroughly enjoyed our roles as Co-Chairs over the past 3 years but feel the time is now right to hand over the baton to a new committee full of fresh ideas and enthusiasm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over our tenure and encourage you all to get involved! We wish you all a wonderful summer.
