37 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 23.10.2020 MTP Parents’ Association Parents’ Association A warm welcome back to the new term! There have been so many changes this term for us all and it really is wonderful to see the boys taking all this in their stride. Sadly, given the current circumstances, life at school will continue to be a little different and that will be reflected in the events the PA traditionally runs during the year. Following the schools Covid-19 risk management guidelines and in the interests of everyone’s safety, the PA will not be running our flagship Annual Fireworks Spectacular this year. However, be assured that the PA is working behind the scenes to work on possible alternatives during this uncertain period. We too had our first virtual committee of the year via Zoom and our PA Zoom Wall picture tells the story! This year we have once again been inundated with uniform requests. As we cannot safely run our traditional uniform sale this term, we are trialling our ‘Uniform Wish list’. This will enable you to put forward your uniform needs and we will then try to match this against our current stock to see if we can help. More details to follow with each year group having an assigned PA Rep who will collect and collate uniform enquiries and take payment. We would be very grateful for any more donations of uniform and sports kits, as we have many parent requests across all year groups. Clean, saleable uniform donations can be placed securely in a bag and left in the plastic box under the table outside the office at the Dovecot centre. Our AGM will be held virtually via zoom on the evening of Tuesday 17th November. We will be sharing all the details shortly, however, if you would like further information or have any queries regarding the AGM please contact us at MTPPA@mtpn.org . uk. The AGM is a great way to find out more about what the MTP PA does and how you can volunteer with us. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us via any of our PA committee members or email. During these testing times with families being at home for a prolonged period of time, mental health and wellbeing in young people has been highlighted as a major concern. Youngminds .org.uk is the UK’s leading charity for children and young people’s mental health that works closely with the NHS. Young Minds can provide help, support and advice over the phone. The organisation has a confidential texting helpline where anyone can send a message (Text: YM to 85258 (open 24/7). Best wishes, Anila Shyam (on behalf of the MTP PA) Committee Zoom
