39 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 16.12.2021 MTP History Motte and Bailey This term, the boys in Year 5 have been learning about the Normans. The boys learned about the stepping stones which William the Conqueror used to secure his control of England after winning at Hastings. In particular they focussed on Motte and Bailey castles - they completed a homework project where they were challenged to show the features of a castle in a creative manner. Some boys drew pictures, others constructed models whilst many used technology, utilising Minecraft. Alternatively, some boys used their imagination to create an account of an attack.
