48 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 16.12.2021 MTP Religious Studies Year 8 Diwali Assembly Hindu, Jain and Sikh members of Y8 combined to create a very memorable Diwali Assembly on Friday, 5th November. Working independently, the boys created their own resources, and presented their part of the assembly three times to various sections of the School. Ayastya Daphale introduced the assembly, and set the scene for the Rama and Sita story. Ayaan Diddee, Kiah Shah and Roshan Patel enthusiastically narrated the adventures of Rama and Sita. Keshav Soni introduced all the various foods eaten in the Diwali celebrations. Aryan Kapoor shared about objects connected to Diwali: cards, rangoli, pugla and diyas. Yash Kotecha explained about the new year and the goddess Lakshmi, sharing a picture of his family’s mandir. Kian Sawhney shared how Sikhs mark Diwali, and Chaitya Jain discussed Jain interpretations. Ayush Shah provided an excellent summary of all that had been shared and wished everyone ‘Happy Diwali!’.
