21 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 10.02.2022 MTP Year 4 The ferocious pack of wolves stealthily follow the scent of a ginormous moose as they tiptoe through the thick, cold snow. When the moose is sighted, they crouch down as low as they can in the perfect spot to pounce. They move closer and closer and… leap with full power like a spring being released. Their claws stick tight inside the moose’s skin which makes it bellow loudly. The pack use all their strength to pull it to the ground so that they can have the dinner they’ve all been waiting for. Everyone is full so it’s time for a good, long sleep. By Ahris As the sun rises, the pack of ravenous wolves determinedly sets off to catch their prey because they have not eaten for many days. They walk along the snowy path while they search for the scent. The pack walk through the deep, white snow as the sun begins to warm them. The pack of wolves see their prey but they lay on their tummies trying not to be seen. The tall birch trees have snow all over them and the wolves begin to creep up on the moose while licking their lips. The wolves finally attack the moose and they all pounce on it. The moose had already been in a fight so he has scratches everywhere. They finally take the moose to the ground and eat till their bellies are full. They travel home and tuck their tails around their heads and after an hour, they go to sleep. They dream of their pack slaying moose. By Arjun The wolves stealthily creep along the thick, white snow making sure they can’t be spotted. They quickly but quietly crouch down as they have now found their huge prey, a moose. Creeping towards it, they still make sure they cannot be seen so that they can instantly attack this humungous beast. The wolves pounce! The moose turns around and spots them! But the wolves have already cornered it – the moose is trapped! A wolf quickly runs in to scratch it then all the others do too as the moose makes a defeated noise – it’s dead! Now the wolves have a tough job to pull it all the way back to their families. Eventually they manage it. The family all dig in to their enormous meal and as they finish, they start to get tired. After a while, all of the pack falls asleep as a horrendous blizzard comes. By Ayaan The wolves prowl down a hill that leads to a vast area. Stealthily moving between obstacles that lay in their path, the pack picks up the scent of an old moose. They silently move through the thick, ice-cold snow as they advance on today’s prey. They stop still! Ten foot tall in front of them is a moose! They hide behind all sorts of nature so as not to be seen. Suddenly they attack, ripping the meat off the moose and trying to kill it from every direction because they are starving. The moose makes a low noise like the sound of a drone. After they have had a very hearty and scrumptious meal, the pack sleeps dreaming of their next prey. They curl up in the three-inch thick snow like a giant fur ball. By Kaylen
