22 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 10.02.2022 MTP Year 4 As the day begins, the pack of ravenous wolves set off in deep, thick snow as they haven’t eaten for many days and are hoping to catch a large beast to feast on for their young. They stroll along the winding path picking up the moose’s scent. Whenever a branch twitches, the pack leader suddenly stops to check the coast is clear before carrying on with their hunt. The nervous wolves crouch down low on their bellies so they stay hidden behind the prickly berry bushes. The pack holds their breath so they won’t be heard by the moose who did have scars from previous battles and would be easily hurt or perhaps kill a wolf cub. The wolves gather around their prey and make many fierce snaps at its hind legs. The wolves approach the moose with astonishing speed surrounding it so that whenever it tries to barge out they corner it back into a small compact space. The fierce wolves jump out with great agility and tackle the large beast down to the ground. The tired wolves lie down while the cold blizzard carries on. The wolves settle down for a long rest after a tiring day of hunting as the storm rages on. By Dino As the sun comes up, the pack of famished wolves sets off to catch their prey because they haven’t eaten for many days. They scurry along the snowy path while they search for a scent. Snow falls from the sky like flakes of parmesan cheese as the wolves break into a run. They have picked up the scent and sprint like volts of electricity when they catch sight of a large stag. They charge after it as it tries to sneak away. This is risky as a stag’s kick can break a wolf’s ribs but they were ready for anything as they lick their lips with hunger. They catch up to the stag and pounce as they bite it and drag it to the ground. They howl for the cubs to come and dig into this sumptuous feast. A few hours later the wolves are ready to rest, their bellies about to explode. The slumber like lions with their heads hidden behind their tails as they curl up to keep warm. They will not have to eat for a few days after the feast of the century. By Krishan
