41 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 10.02.2022 MTP Sports With the Spring term well underway we have welcomed the return of Football fixtures for our senior students, with matches also set to place for students in Y4-6 over the coming weeks. Our senior sides have enjoyed home and away matches against The Beacon, Belmont Prep and a first ever Football fixture with our friends at St John’s. Having not played fixtures for 2 years the boys have been excited to get going again and working hard in Games lessons to improve. Friday 21st January saw GB Olympic Table Tennis Gold medallist, and Strictly Come Dancing Star, Will Bayley come and visit us. Will wowed the boys with his Table Tennis skills and offered great insight into his journey to becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist. Will spoke to boys in Y5-8 in assembly, played Table Tennis at break time and spent several hours coaching our Y7 & 8 students in what was one of the highlights for the sports department in many a year. We hope to welcome Will back in the future and wish him well for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. We wish our Y8 Hockey players well on their upcoming tour to Bath.
