3 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 14.10.2022 Welcome back to a new academic year! It has been wonderful to see the children coming into school brightly each morning as the new year begins. A warm welcome to all the new children who have joined our school in Nursery and to our new Reception boys. All of the boys are settling into their new routines and adjusting to the expectations of their new year groups really well. I would like to thank all parents for their supportive role they play in this; the successes of the children reflect a strong partnership between home and school. We also welcome a new member of the Reception team, Mrs McKenna. I would also like to thank you all for giving me such a warm welcome into the Merchant Taylors’ Prep family. In the last few weeks, the boys in The Manor having been busy getting to know the new adults they are with, catching up with their friends, as well as learning the new routines of Nursery and Reception. In addition to all of this they have been enjoying all the fun activities on offer. Our topic this term is called ‘Once Upon a Time’ and the boys have been exposed to a broad variety of learning through a range of traditional tales. We also had a drumming workshop in school, which really developed their confidence, collaboration and creativity. In other exciting news, the children have also harvested the pumpkins that they have just planted. In Year 1 and Year 2, the learning has been based around the topic, ‘Yum, Yum!’ The boys were invited to bring in their favourite teddy bear to school as part of their learning journey. One exciting morning the children arrived into school to see that the bears had been getting up to all sorts of mischief in their classrooms. The boys have painted bears, made bear biscuits, learned how bees make honey and tasted honey from all around the world. They have also been exploring our beautiful school grounds in Forest School and enjoying apples from our school trees. Lastly, I would also like to thank the many parents who attended the Parent Information Meetings for Nursery, Reception and Year 1. It is a pleasure to meet so many of you and I look forward to meeting more of you in the future. Mrs Quinlivan Head of Pre-Prep Pre-Prep MTP Pre-Prep Nursery
