46 Merchant Taylors’ Prep School Newsletter - 14.10.2022 MTP Sports Sports The Autumn term’s sports are underway with Football, Hockey and Water Sports taking place already. Our Y8 pupils enjoyed a return to Bray Lake in Windsor to build on the skills learnt last summer, particularly focusing on Canoeing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Windsurfing. Our Y7 & 8 Hockey players had four fixtures against our neighbours at MTS, and have also begun their THL Hockey training, lead by the Director of Hockey at MTS Jack Middleton. Pupils in Y5-8 have all been practising their Hockey skills this term, with fixture for Y5 & 6 due in the coming weeks. Our Football season has begun, for the first time in the Autumn term after switching from Spring, which has meant we’ve been able to play in much more favourable conditions (so far). Our U13A team recorded an impressive 7-1 win in the first round of the ISFA National Cup, a great team performance with 5 different goal scorers. We look forward to finding out our opposition in the next round soon. Our Y4 Footballers enjoyed their first school fixtures representing MTP against Radlett Prep, with Y6 also playing Radlett the following day. Our Y3 Footballers also enjoyed their first taste of a matchday in their U8 Football Development Day. These days have grown over the past few years, with our biggest attendance from parents this time around supporting their son’s play. Thank you to all that came to support, we’re already looking forward to our next day in November. One final note from me, a huge thank you to everyone that has supported me in running this year’s London Marathon. From donations to well wishes, it’s really helped me through the final few days of training and pushed me over the line on race day. I’m pleased to say I have raised £2500 so far for The Michael Sobell Hospice, who pass on their sincere thanks to everyone who has donated.
